$100 Challenge Grant!!!

We here at Waffle Opera are grateful to our supporters.  Our Winter Fundraiser has raised over $1,400 so far and we still have 2 weeks to go to reach our goal of $2500.

A generous anonymous donor  wants to help us along.  They love Waffle Opera and believe in our mission of providing quality opportunities for opera singers to preform in San Francisco, understand our need for supporters and want to help us keep our ticket prices down, so that performances are affordable for all.

With that in mind, they are putting up a $100 challenge grant.  If our Winter Fundraiser can  raise $300 by midnight tonight, we will get an additional $100.  It may not sound like much, but it really is.  Every additional dollar is needed to get the costumes, light the lights and create the magic the magic needed to bring Gianni Schicchi and Transformations to the stage.
Please give at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/waffle-opera-s-2015-season/x/9458986#home

We only have until midnight Monday January 25, 2015 to earn the extra funds.

Be on the look out, Gianni Schicchi announcements will be headed your way as soon as the Winter Fundraiser reaches $1500.

Our 2015 season –

Our third season started with our biggest production yet, a thrilling production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni.  After this success, we are very excited to present our upcoming 2015 productions:

Giacomo Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi – Opera’s most brilliant con man takes the stage in March 2015! Puccini’s only comedy finds a legendary schemer teaming up with a conniving family eager to secure an inheritance. Love, greed, and the classic aria “O Mio Babbino Caro” are just some of the exciting ingredients that form this wild romp, in new production from director Jimmy Marcheso, set in the fading days of Pre-War Italy.

Conrad Susa’s TransformationsNot your grandmother’s fairy tales.  Using the brilliant poetry of Anne Sexton, Bay Area composer Conrad Susa takes us on a dangerous, wickedly funny journey  through the works of the Brothers Grimm in this Twentieth Century masterpiece. A group of performers bands together for an evening of twisted stories, where every shadow may contain an imp, and an evil stepmother lurks in every mirror’s reflection . Transformations turns off the nightlight and lifts the veil on how these tales  shape and resonate in our lives.  Summer 2015  a startling production from director Ted Zoldan and musical director Ben Malkevitch, who helmed our critically acclaimed production of Die Zauberflöte.

How You Can Help

We need your help to take our work to the next level. Audience support is the only way that we can continue to bring affordable, creative (and delicious) entertainment to the Bay Area. The founders and production staff of Waffle Opera are all young artists in their 20s and 30s, growing an opera company from the ground upWe’ve come a long way in a short time, but ticket sales only go so far, especially as we are committed to keep our prices low, so that opera is accessible to all.

What your support will do:

We need to raise $2500 by February to ensure the remainder of our season. Your gift, large or small, will help ensure the curtain will go up.

$1,000 will allow us to to rent spaces in downtown San Francisco for our performances.

$700 will pay for the performance rights to Transformations.

$500 will go towards compensating our artists.

$500 will make costumes, sets, lighting, and the other elements to create truly great theater possible.

$100 will pay for all of our printed outreach and advertising materials.

$34 will keep us in Maple syrup for the rest of the season.

Stretch Goal: While $2,500 would be a huge help in funding our season, it won’t cover everything. With more funding we  will grow Waffle Opera and our work as a company the Bay Area can be proud of. Also, we will be able to serve more Waffles.  The only element holding us back is funding.

If you want to support young artists, any amount you can give, no matter how small is amazing! Please also help us get the word out by sharing this with your friends.

Thanks for your time and we can’t wait to see you at the Opera!
